Reaching Out
Outreach and mission are vital to our identity and calling at St. Alban's. We believe we are called daily and sent to respond to a world in need of healing, love, peace, and reconciliation. We believe that by using resources we have been given in our faith and through the love of Jesus Christ, we can respond to that call with joyful hearts. We hope you will read the Vestry's Outreach Vision for St. Alban’s Parish.
We Are Called to Reach Out...
To Each Other
When asked to pick a word that summarizes life together at St. Alban's parishioners immediately said things like "home", "family", and "community". Our diverse church cares a great deal for one another. This is reflected in the informal moments of hospitality and fellowship as well as in our more focused ministries of pastoral care and support.
To Our City
At St. Alban's Parish we see service to the city of Washington as an important part of our ministry. That service is lived out in a variety of ways, through our feeding and homeless ministries, through grants to area agencies from funds raised in our Opportunity Shop, and more recently in our environmental ministries. There are a lot of ways to get involved in the mission of God through St. Alban's and plenty of avenues for giving back to this city in the ministries we offer.
To Our World
St. Alban’s has a deep commitment to Christ’s command to be proper stewards of his creation. Our commitment is embodied in our call to "green ministry," and to using solar panels to generate power. See how much energy St. Alban’s solar panels generate each day.
There is a long legacy of engaging the mission of God on a global level at St. Alban's. We have at various times worked with an orphanage in Belize, taken mission trips to Cuba, supported ministries in Africa, and we've sent pilgrims all over Europe and to Asia. Our parishioners are often globally minded working here in Washington and around the world. Our forums often have a global perspective, and we regularly fund mission and ministries through our grants and charitable giving, in far flung places.
